Bulkhead Replacement & Shoreline Stabilization Project Completed in Record Setting Time

November 2009

A 24-Month long bulkhead replacement & shoreline stabilization project at the Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson was completed in 12 months. The Westchester County DPW awarded Arben Group the contract in October 2008 and with careful planning the project was completed in only 12 Months.

The Arben Group, LLC replaced approximately 3,300 linear feet of steel tie-back type bulkhead at two sites within the Croton Point Park. Bulkhead work included removal of top portion of the existing steel bulkhead, constructing a colored and embossed concrete cap and regarding the area behind the bulkhead.
Other required work involved rebuilding and stabilizing approximately 300 feet of eroded embankment area with rip-rap, fill and landscaping.

The work was done to stabilize the shoreline and prevent further erosion of the park. The inspection crew and Westchester County DPW were highly impressed with the way in which the project was performed and completed.

A key aspect of the project was the design and fabrication of a precast concrete cap rather then a poured in place concrete cap, how it was originally designed.
